Turmeric

Lately, there has been a major spotlight placed on the herb known as the “king of spices” – Turmeric.

This rhizomatous perennial herb grows wildly in South and Southeast Asia, where the roots are harvested, boiled, dried, and ground up into a powder which has multiple uses. Turmeric can be used to cook with, make smoothies, and drink as a tea.

Turmeric is recognized as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Studies also indicate it can increase the body’s antioxidant capacity.  We recommend you read the research on this wonderful root… it is worth the orange powdery mess in the kitchen to brew up a pot! Turmeric may help in the following ways:
  • Supports the immune system
  • Healthy blood and liver functioning
  • Improve digestion
  • Certain skin conditions including eczema, shingles, and allergies
  • Aches and pain related to arthritis
  • Inflammation of joints and muscles
  • Prevention of Alzheimer’s
